I'm married to the beautiful Bridget and father to four fantastic kiddos. We plant churches and live in a fifth-wheel camper. I write and smoke a pipe whenever I get the chance. Currently camped in Austin, TX.
“Mighty are the Ainur, and mightiest among them is Melkor; but that he may know, and all the Ainur, that am Ilúvatar, those things that ye have sung, I will show them forth, that ye may see what ye have done. And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined.” – Ilúvitar, The Silmarillion (J.R.R. Tolkien)
Try as he might, the enemy can never thwart God’s eternal plan. God’s purpose prevails. In Christ, we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those called according to His purpose. How big is our God? Even the seeming defeat of Jesus played exactly into the Father’s plans. The enemy proved but an instrument in the devising of something more wonderful than anyone could ever imagine: the increase of the Son.
