I'm married to the beautiful Bridget and father to four fantastic kiddos. We plant churches and live in a fifth-wheel camper. I write and smoke a pipe whenever I get the chance. Currently camped in Austin, TX.
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” – Galatians 2:20
We tend to focus on our benefit (God loved me…), but what does God gain from loving and giving Himself up for us? If we are in Christ, then we have been crucified with Him. This means it is no longer you nor I who live, but Christ lives in us. Therefore, the life that we are living in the flesh is a life lived by faith in Christ. He loved us and gave Himself up for us, so that He might live in and through us. What does He gain? A people crucified with Him (and resurrected with Him), so He now lives.
